Brand typography: your fonts, shown and shared
Show people your type, not a font name in a PDF. Melon Cut Guidelines sets each brand font as a live sample in the font itself, records which font does which job, and offers the file for download only where you allow it.

Brand typography, step by step
Add your fonts
Upload each font to a font library in the Assets tab, and decide whether people may download it.
Give them roles
In a system, pick the main font, the heading font and the sub-heading font, so the hierarchy is written down.
Publish
Font blocks on the Usage page show a sample set in the font itself, with a download button where you allowed one.
See the font, not just its name
A font name in a document tells people what to look for; a sample shows them what it should look like. Each font block in your guidelines sets text in the font itself, so a designer can check they have the right one before they start.
Downloads you control
Some fonts are yours to share and some are licensed to you alone. You decide for each font whether the guidelines offer it for download; when you don't, people still see the sample and the name. Font licences differ, so check yours before you make a font downloadable.
A type hierarchy everyone follows
A system in the Systems tab names three fonts: one for all text, one for headings and one for sub-headings. Headings and sub-headings fall back to the main font when you leave them empty, so a brand with a single typeface still works.
Your fonts in AI designs
Melon Cut Design can set text in your own fonts. Attach up to 4 font files - TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2 - to an image chat, or name your brand's @username so its published fonts guide the result.

What is brand typography?
It is the set of typefaces a brand uses and the rules for using them: which font is for headings, which is for body text, and how they work together.
Can people download my fonts from my guidelines?
Only the fonts you allow. Each font can be offered for download or shown as a sample only, which suits licensed fonts you may not pass on.
Do the brand pages use my fonts?
Yes. Your guidelines page is drawn in your own brand fonts and colours, so readers see your type in use.

People also ask
- Brand guidelines What should brand guidelines include? Brand guidelines should include your logos and how to use them, your colour palette with exact codes, your fonts and type styles, the look of your imagery, and your voice and tone. Strong guidelines also hold the brand's foundation - mission, vision, values and audience - plus downloadable files, so people can act on the rules, not just read them.
- Social media How do I keep social media posts on-brand? Write the rules down and apply them every time: the same colours, fonts, logo placement and tone of voice on every post. Brand guidelines make that possible. In Melon Cut, publish your guidelines in Melon Cut Guidelines, then type your brand's @username in Melon Cut Design: its colours, fonts and style guide every post, and your real logo file is placed on it.
