Social media sizes

Instagram post size: 1080 × 1350 (4:5)

Use 1080 × 1350 pixels, a 4:5 portrait. It is the tallest shape the feed shows in full, so your post takes up more of the screen than a square - and Melon Cut makes every social post at exactly this size.

How it works

Make it at exactly this size

  1. Choose Social post

In Melon Cut Design, pick Social post: every picture is made at 1080 × 1350.

  2. Describe the post

Write what the post is about, and add your brand's @username to keep it on-brand.

  3. Check it

Press Check for social media to confirm the size and that nothing will be cropped on the grid.

Why 4:5 and not square

A square post is 1:1. A 4:5 portrait post is the same width but 25% taller, so it fills more of the screen as people scroll - more room for your product, your words and your logo.

The profile grid crop

On your profile, Instagram shows each post as a tile cut from its middle. A logo in a corner or a headline near the edge of a 4:5 post can disappear from that tile, which is why the safe area matters.

1080 × 1350 pixels, a 4:5 portrait. It shows larger in the feed than a square post.

Will a 4:5 post be cropped on my profile?

The profile grid shows the middle of the post. Keep anything important 13% from the sides and 12% from the top and bottom and it stays visible.
