Questions about AI design and brand guidelines
Straight answers about AI images, social media sizes, bulk content, editing, video, brand guidelines and credits.
Getting started
What is Melon Cut?
Melon Cut is a pair of tools for brands. Melon Cut Design is an AI studio that makes images, social media posts, stories, videos, vectors and brand identities from a written prompt. Melon Cut Guidelines builds your brand guidelines - logos, colours, fonts and rules - and publishes them at meloncut.com/yourbrand. Design can read those guidelines to keep its results on-brand.
Is Melon Cut free?
Partly. Melon Cut Guidelines has a Free plan: you can keep private draft guidelines for up to 10 brands and use them with Melon Cut Design. Paid Guidelines plans, priced per brand, add public guidelines and a custom username and address. Melon Cut Design, the AI studio, needs a paid plan; every plan has every feature and differs only in monthly credits.
Do I need design skills to use an AI design tool?
No. An AI design tool works from a plain-language description, so you don't need layout software or design training to get a usable result. What helps is knowing what you want: the message, the audience and your brand. In Melon Cut Design you describe it in words, and the sizes, safe areas and your brand's look are handled for you.
What is the difference between Melon Cut Design and Melon Cut Guidelines?
Melon Cut Design makes things: it is an AI studio for images, social posts, stories, videos, vectors and brand identities, paid for with monthly credits. Melon Cut Guidelines keeps things: it stores a brand's logos, colours, fonts and rules and publishes them at meloncut.com/yourbrand, priced per brand with a Free plan. Together, Design uses your guidelines to stay on-brand.
Should I use an AI design tool or hire a designer?
It depends on the job, and many teams use both. A designer brings strategy, original ideas and judgement - worth it for a new identity, a major campaign or print work. An AI design tool is quicker and cheaper for everyday content: posts, stories, product shots and variations. A common setup is a designer defining the brand and AI making daily content from it.
Is there a Melon Cut app?
Yes, for brand guidelines. The Melon Cut Guidelines editor runs on the web and as apps for Android, iOS, Mac and Windows, so you can update logos, colours and fonts from whichever device you have. Melon Cut Design, the AI studio for images, posts, videos and vectors, runs in your web browser, and published brand pages open in any browser.
AI images
What is an AI image generator?
An AI image generator is a tool that creates a new picture from a written description, called a prompt. It has learned from many images how subjects, light and styles look, so it can draw a scene that never existed. Melon Cut Design generates pictures with GPT Image, in square, portrait or landscape shapes, and as sized social media posts.
How do I write a good AI image prompt?
Say what you want to see, where, and in what style. A good AI image prompt names the subject, the setting, the light or mood, the style - photo, illustration, flat graphic - and where it will be used. Be specific about anything that must appear, such as exact words or a product. Then refine one change at a time instead of rewriting everything.
Which AI models does Melon Cut use?
Like most AI design tools, Melon Cut uses different models for different jobs. Melon Cut Design makes pictures with GPT Image, with no model to choose. For video you can pick Kling 4.0, Wan 3.0, Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Gemini Omni Flash or Grok Imagine, or let Auto pick and explain why; Happy Horse handles video edits. Vectors use Recraft's vector models.
What image sizes can AI generate?
Most AI image generators make a few fixed shapes rather than any size you type: usually square, portrait and landscape. Melon Cut Design makes square 1:1, portrait 2:3 and landscape 3:2 pictures, 4:5 social posts at 1080 × 1350 and 9:16 stories at 1080 × 1920. When you need a bigger file, upscale the result 2× or 4×.
Can AI make images with a transparent background?
Yes. Some AI image generators can make a picture with a transparent background from the start, and an AI background remover can cut the subject out of an existing photo. In Melon Cut Design you can switch on a transparent background when you generate, or use Remove background on any picture to get a transparent cutout, ready to place on other designs.
How do I get better quality AI images?
Give the AI more to work with, then finish the result properly. Write a specific prompt, attach reference pictures, use the highest quality setting for final images and refine with small follow-up changes. Then enhance or upscale the one you keep. In Melon Cut Design, High quality, Enhance details and Upscale 2× or 4× cover those last steps.
Can I edit an AI-generated image?
Yes. Most AI image tools let you change a result by describing the change, and the file can be edited like any other picture. In Melon Cut Design each new prompt changes the latest result, and the edit tools remove or replace backgrounds, make product packshots, add your logo as a watermark, upscale and enhance details.
Bulk creation and plans
Can AI generate images in bulk?
Yes. In Melon Cut Design one prompt makes up to 4 pictures, and a request for several things - a week of posts, a set of stories - becomes a plan of up to 30 items. You see every item and the credits before anything is made, remove what you don't need, and make them all at once.
How do I create a month of social media content fast?
Plan first, then make everything in one sitting: choose a few content themes, map them to dates, and create the posts, stories and captions together instead of one a day. In Melon Cut Design, one request - or an attached content calendar - becomes a plan of up to 30 items, each with a caption, made 3 at a time.
Can AI turn a document into social media posts?
Yes. An AI tool that reads documents can pull the key points from a brief, a report, a menu or a content calendar and turn them into posts with captions. In Melon Cut Design, attach up to 10 documents - Word, PDF, text, Markdown or CSV - and ask for the posts you need; Melon Cut plans them, up to 30 items.
Can AI write captions for social media posts?
Yes. AI can draft a caption for each post from what the post shows and what you asked for, which saves writing dozens by hand. Treat it as a first draft and check the facts, the tone, the hashtags and any claims. In Melon Cut Design, every item in a content plan comes with its own caption, and Copy caption puts it on your clipboard.
How do I edit many images at once?
Use a batch editor: select the pictures, choose one edit, and it runs on each of them. It suits jobs that repeat across a set, such as removing backgrounds or upscaling. In Melon Cut Design you can apply an edit to up to 8 pictures in one request, and each comes back as its own result, keeping its title and caption.
Editing pictures
How do I remove the background from an image?
Use an AI background remover: upload the picture, and it finds the subject and makes everything else transparent, ready to save as a transparent PNG. In Melon Cut Design, choose Edit, pick Remove background and attach your photo, or use a result from the chat. You can remove the background from up to 8 pictures in one request.
How do I change the background of a photo?
Use an AI background changer: it keeps your subject, replaces the old background with the scene you describe and blends the two together. In Melon Cut Design, choose Edit, pick Replace background, attach the photo and describe the new scene - "on a wooden table by a sunny window", for example. Up to 8 photos can be changed in one request.
How do I make product photos with a white background?
Take a clear photo of the product, then use an AI packshot tool to remove the background and centre the product on pure white. In Melon Cut Design, choose Edit, pick Product packshot, attach the photo and choose white as the background colour; you get a clean, centred ecommerce shot. Up to 8 products can be done in one request.
How do I upscale an image without losing quality?
Use an AI upscaler instead of ordinary resizing. Simple resizing stretches the existing pixels, so the picture turns soft; an AI image upscaler adds new detail as it enlarges, keeping edges and textures sharp. In Melon Cut Design, choose Edit, pick Upscale and choose 2× or 4×, which doubles or quadruples the picture's width and height.
What is the difference between upscaling and enhancing an image?
Upscaling makes an image bigger: it increases the width and height and adds detail so the larger picture stays sharp. Enhancing makes an image cleaner: it improves texture and sharpness and fixes artifacts such as blur or compression blocks. Upscale when the picture is too small, enhance when it looks rough, and do both when it is both.
How do I add a logo watermark to photos?
Place your logo on the photo at a set position, size and opacity - usually a corner, small and partly transparent - so it marks the photo without hiding it. In Melon Cut Design, choose Edit, pick Add watermark, attach the photo and your logo, then choose one of 9 positions, a size from 5 to 100% and an opacity from 5 to 100%.
How do I edit a photo by describing the change?
Use an AI photo editor that takes text instructions: attach the photo, describe the change - "remove the cup", "make it evening", "add snow on the roof" - and the AI applies it. In Melon Cut Design, choose Edit, pick Prompt edit, attach the photo and write the change. Each later prompt changes the latest result, so you can refine step by step.
Video
How do I make a video with AI?
Describe the video in a prompt, or give the AI pictures to animate, and it generates a short clip. In Melon Cut Design you can make a video from text, from your pictures - the first opens it, the last closes it - from reference pictures, or by changing a video you already have. Pick a model, or let Auto pick one and explain why.
How long can AI videos be?
AI video models generate short clips, from a few seconds to about half a minute at a time. In Melon Cut Design the longest-running models make up to 30 seconds: Kling 4.0 makes 3 to 30, Wan 3.0 2 to 30 and Seedance 2.5 4 to 30. Veo 3.1 makes 4, 6 or 8 seconds. For a longer video, join several clips in a video editor.
Can AI turn photos into a video?
Yes. Image-to-video AI animates a still picture or moves between several, inventing the motion in between. In Melon Cut Design, attach your pictures: the first opens the video, the last closes it, and up to 8 more act as keyframes in between. Add your brand and the video gets a generated opening frame and an end card with your real logo.
Can AI edit an existing video?
Yes. Video-to-video AI takes a clip you already have and changes it from a description - a new style, a different setting, a changed detail - while following the original's movement. In Melon Cut Design, attach an MP4 or MOV of up to 100 MB and 60 seconds and use Change the video; the result keeps the source's length and shape.
How do I make vertical videos for Reels and TikTok?
Make them 1080 × 1920 pixels, a 9:16 vertical, open with a hook in the first second, and keep words, logos and faces away from the parts the app covers: 8% from the sides, 14% from the top and 20% from the bottom. Melon Cut Design's Social media video format does all three, about 10 seconds long by default.
Can AI videos include my logo?
Yes, but it should be your real logo file, not one the AI draws: video models can distort letters and shapes. In Melon Cut Design, add your brand's @username to a video made from pictures and it becomes a branded video, with a generated opening frame and an end card showing your real logo file, centred.
Vectors and SVG
What is a vector image?
A vector image is a picture stored as shapes - points, lines, curves and fills - rather than a grid of pixels. Because the shapes are described mathematically, a vector scales to any size, from a favicon to a billboard, without blurring. SVG is the most common vector format on the web; JPEG and PNG are pixel formats.
How do I convert an image to SVG?
To convert an image to SVG, you trace it: software finds the edges and areas of colour in a PNG or JPEG and redraws them as vector paths. Logos, icons and flat illustrations with clear shapes convert best. Photos convert poorly, because their detail becomes thousands of tiny shapes. In Melon Cut Design, upload a picture and use Convert to vector.
Can AI generate SVG files?
Yes. Some AI models draw true vector graphics: shapes and paths you can scale and edit, saved as SVG. Others only make pixel images, which can be wrapped in an SVG file without becoming vectors. Melon Cut Design's Vector graphic makes real, editable SVG from a description, with a choice of aspect ratio and number of results.
Brand guidelines
What are brand guidelines?
Brand guidelines are the rules for how a brand looks and sounds: which logos to use and how, the exact colours and fonts, the style of its imagery, and the voice and tone of its words. They let designers, agencies, staff and partners make work that looks like the same brand every time, without having to ask.
What should brand guidelines include?
Brand guidelines should include your logos and how to use them, your colour palette with exact codes, your fonts and type styles, the look of your imagery, and your voice and tone. Strong guidelines also hold the brand's foundation - mission, vision, values and audience - plus downloadable files, so people can act on the rules, not just read them.
How do I create brand guidelines?
To create brand guidelines, gather your final logo files, colours and fonts; record exact colour codes; write short rules for how each is used; define your mission, values and voice; then publish everything in one place people can reach. Start with what people ask for most - logos and colours - and add detail over time.
Brand guidelines PDF or website: which is better?
A website is usually the better home for brand guidelines people use every day: there is only ever one current version, and colour codes can be copied and files downloaded from the same page. A PDF still suits a fixed snapshot, such as a print handover. Keep the website as the source and hand out a PDF only when someone needs one.
How do I share brand assets with a designer or agency?
Share one link to your brand guidelines instead of emailing files. A designer or agency needs your logo files in several formats, exact colour codes, your fonts or their names, examples of your imagery and the rules for using them. Keeping all of it on one page means they always take the latest version and don't have to ask again.
What is the difference between HEX, RGB and CMYK?
RGB and HEX describe colours for screens, as mixes of red, green and blue light; HEX is simply RGB written as a six-character code, such as #FF5733. CMYK describes colours for print, as percentages of cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink. Use HEX or RGB for websites, apps and social media, and CMYK for anything printed.
What is brand voice and tone?
Brand voice is the consistent personality in everything a brand writes - for example warm, plain-spoken and confident. Tone is how that voice adjusts to the moment: more upbeat in a launch post, calmer in an apology, more precise in a help article. The voice stays the same everywhere; the tone changes with the audience and the situation.
What is a brand foundation (mission, vision and values)?
A brand foundation is the written core of a brand: why it exists, where it is going and what it stands for. It usually includes the mission (what you do and for whom), the vision (the future you are working towards) and the values (how you behave), plus the audience, positioning and brand promise. Logos, campaigns and messages should all follow from it.
Can AI create a brand identity?
Yes. AI can turn a description of a business into a starting brand identity: a logo, a colour palette, fonts and written guidelines. It is fast and useful for exploring directions, but you still decide what fits - review the logo closely, check that the name and mark are free to use, and refine it until it feels like yours.
How do I make AI images on-brand?
Give the AI your brand, not just a prompt: your colours, fonts, photo style and the rules for your logo. Describing them in every prompt helps, but results still drift. A tool that reads your published brand guidelines does it consistently. In Melon Cut Design, add your brand's @username and every result follows its guidelines, with your real logo placed afterwards.
Can AI put my real logo on images?
Most AI image models can't reproduce a logo exactly: they redraw it, and letters, shapes or colours come out wrong. The reliable way is to generate the picture first and then place your real logo file on it. Melon Cut Design does this when you add your brand: it picks the logo version that stands out best and never recolours or stretches it.
How do I manage several brands in one place?
Give each brand its own guidelines - its own logos, colours, fonts and rules - and keep them all in one tool, so switching is quick and nothing gets mixed up. Link related brands, such as a parent company and its sub-brands, so people can move between them. In Melon Cut Guidelines every brand has its own page, and Melon Cut Design generates for any of them by @username.
Pricing and credits
How do credits work in Melon Cut?
Credits are how Melon Cut Design measures AI work. Your plan gives credits every month, and each action uses some: a picture 10, a high-quality one 15, a branded one 30, and a video 60 for every started 5 seconds. Before a run, the studio shows what it costs and what you have left. Top-up packs add more credits at any time.
How many credits does an AI image cost?
In Melon Cut Design an AI image costs 10 credits at Low or Medium quality and 15 at High quality. A branded image, made with your brand guidelines and your real logo, costs 30. The cost is per picture, so four pictures from one prompt cost four times as much. Edits, such as removing a background, cost 2 to 5 credits.
How many credits does an AI video cost?
In Melon Cut Design an AI video costs 60 credits for every started 5 seconds, so a 10-second clip costs 120 credits. A branded video, made with your brand guidelines, costs 150 credits per started 5 seconds. The studio shows the exact cost before you start, and the rate is the same whichever video model you pick.
Do Melon Cut credits expire?
Credits you buy in Melon Cut Design's top-up packs - 500, 2,000 or 5,000 credits - don't expire. Your plan gives a new set of credits every month while it is active, including yearly plans, which give theirs month by month. The current plans, the credits each one gives and their terms are on the pricing page. With any AI tool, check how its monthly and bought credits differ.
Can I cancel my Melon Cut plan?
Yes. You can cancel a Melon Cut plan at any time, and it stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for; nothing more is charged after that. You can also change plans: a bigger plan starts right away and you pay the difference for the rest of the period, while a smaller one starts at your next renewal.
Is Melon Cut Guidelines free?
Yes. Melon Cut Guidelines has a Free plan for every brand you create: you build private guidelines in the editor, and they work with Melon Cut Design. You can own up to 10 brands on Free. Paid plans are priced per brand and add public guidelines and a custom username and address, such as meloncut.com/yourbrand.
Using AI content
Do I need to label AI-generated content on social media?
Sometimes. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok have their own rules for labelling AI-generated content, especially realistic images, video or audio that people could mistake for real people or events. The rules differ by platform and by country and change often, so check each platform's current policy and local law before you post. When in doubt, label it.
Does Melon Cut add a watermark to images?
No. Melon Cut Design doesn't add a watermark to the images you create, on any plan. Add watermark is an edit tool you choose to use: it places your own logo on a picture in one of 9 positions, at the size and opacity you set. When you generate with your brand, your real logo is placed - yours, not Melon Cut's.
Can I use AI images in ads?
Often yes, as long as the ad follows the platform's advertising policy and the law where it runs. Ad platforms such as Meta and TikTok review what an ad shows and says: misleading claims, realistic depictions of real people or events and other brands' logos are common problems, and some cases need an AI disclosure. Check their current policies before you launch.

Social media
What size is an Instagram post?
Make Instagram feed posts 1080 × 1350 pixels, a 4:5 portrait. It is the tallest shape the feed shows in full, so it takes up more of the screen than a square. Keep logos and text 13% from the sides and 12% from the top and bottom so the profile grid doesn't crop them.
What size is an Instagram story?
Make Instagram stories 1080 × 1920 pixels, a 9:16 vertical that fills a phone screen. The app shows your profile name at the top and the reply bar at the bottom, so keep text, logos and faces 8% from the sides and 14% from the top and bottom. Melon Cut makes stories at exactly this size, with this safe area.
What size is an Instagram Reel?
Make Instagram Reels 1080 × 1920 pixels, a 9:16 vertical video that fills the phone screen. The caption, account name and buttons sit over the lower part of the video, so keep words, logos and faces 8% from the sides, 14% from the top and 20% from the bottom. Melon Cut's social media videos use this size and safe area.
What size is a Facebook post?
For a Facebook feed post, use 1080 × 1350 pixels, a 4:5 portrait. It fills more of a phone screen than a square or landscape picture, and the same file works on Instagram. Keep text and logos 13% from the sides and 12% from the top and bottom. Melon Cut makes Facebook feed posts at exactly this size.
What size is a TikTok video?
Make TikTok videos 1080 × 1920 pixels, a 9:16 vertical that fills the phone screen. TikTok lays its caption, username and buttons over the video, so keep words, logos and faces 8% from the sides, 14% from the top and 20% from the bottom. Melon Cut's social media videos use this size and safe area.
What is a safe zone on social media?
A safe zone is the area of a post, story or video where important content won't be cropped or hidden behind the app's buttons, names and captions. Keep text, logos and faces inside it. Melon Cut uses 13% from the sides and 12% from the top and bottom for 4:5 posts, 8% and 14% for stories, and 8%, 14% and 20% for vertical videos.
How do I make social media posts with AI?
Describe the post you want - the message, the product, the mood - in an AI design tool set to the right size, then review and refine it. In Melon Cut Design, choose Social post for a 1080 × 1350 feed post, add your brand's @username, write your prompt and press Check for social media before you download.
How do I keep social media posts on-brand?
Write the rules down and apply them every time: the same colours, fonts, logo placement and tone of voice on every post. Brand guidelines make that possible. In Melon Cut, publish your guidelines in Melon Cut Guidelines, then type your brand's @username in Melon Cut Design: its colours, fonts and style guide every post, and your real logo file is placed on it.
How can I check a post before publishing it?
Check the size and shape, what will be cropped or covered, every word in the picture and the platform's content rules, then read the caption. In Melon Cut Design, Check for social media checks a post's size, shape and content and whether anything is cropped on the Instagram grid, then says it is compatible or lists what to fix.
How do I plan social media content for holidays?
List the days that matter to your audience, decide which deserve a post, and make the content a few weeks ahead in one batch. In Melon Cut Design, What's coming up lists international and Lebanese days worth posting about; Add to prompt puts one into your request, and Melon Cut can plan the posts and stories for it.
