Using AI content

Can I use AI images in ads?

Short answer

Often yes, as long as the ad follows the platform's advertising policy and the law where it runs. Ad platforms such as Meta and TikTok review what an ad shows and says: misleading claims, realistic depictions of real people or events and other brands' logos are common problems, and some cases need an AI disclosure. Check their current policies before you launch.

General guidance, not legal advice: what to check before you use AI images in ads.

What to avoid in AI ad images

These are the problems ad reviews look for, whatever tool made the image:

  • Real, identifiable people who haven't agreed to appear
  • Other brands' logos, characters or artwork
  • Product results or before-and-after pictures that aren't real
  • Fake news, fake endorsements or invented statistics
  • Text that is hard to read or sits where the platform covers it

Rights and terms

How you may use an AI image depends on the AI provider's terms and on the law where you advertise, which differ by country. Melon Cut Design's plans include commercial use within each AI provider's terms; that is not a legal guarantee about any particular image, so for important campaigns, ask a legal adviser.

Checking an ad image before it runs

Melon Cut Design's Check for social media reviews a post's size, shape and content against summaries of Meta's and TikTok's official policy and ad-spec pages, checks what the Instagram grid would crop, and lists what to fix. It helps you catch problems early; it can't promise an ad will be approved.
