Social media

How can I check a post before publishing it?

Short answer

Check the size and shape, what will be cropped or covered, every word in the picture and the platform's content rules, then read the caption. In Melon Cut Design, Check for social media checks a post's size, shape and content and whether anything is cropped on the Instagram grid, then says it is compatible or lists what to fix.

A short checklist, and a check that does much of it for you.

A checklist before you post

A second look catches most mistakes before your audience does.

  • The size and shape match the format - 1080 × 1350 for a 4:5 feed post
  • Nothing important sits near the edges, where the profile grid crops
  • Every word in the picture is spelled right and says what you mean
  • Prices, dates and offers are correct
  • The content follows the platform's rules, especially for ads
  • The caption is ready and matches the picture

What Check for social media does

The check looks at the post itself: its size, its shape, its content and what the Instagram profile grid would cut off. The platform rules it applies are summarised from the official Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok policy and ad-spec pages. It answers Compatible with social media, or lists what to fix.

What it cannot decide for you

Platforms make the final call on what they allow, and their rules change. For ads and sensitive topics, read the platform's current policy as well.
