How do I make vertical videos for Reels and TikTok?

Short answer

Make them 1080 × 1920 pixels, a 9:16 vertical, open with a hook in the first second, and keep words, logos and faces away from the parts the app covers: 8% from the sides, 14% from the top and 20% from the bottom. Melon Cut Design's Social media video format does all three, about 10 seconds long by default.

The size, the safe area and the pacing that work in a vertical feed.

Hook first

People decide in a moment whether to keep watching. Put the product, the result or the question at the very start, then explain, and save the logo for the end.

Start from text or from photos

Describe the video in a prompt, or attach product photos so the first opens the video and the last closes it. Add your brand's @username to a video from photos for a branded video with your real logo on the end card.

Many videos at once

Ask for several vertical videos in one request and they appear as items in a plan of up to 30, alongside posts and stories if you want them. Download them and post them yourself - Melon Cut does not post for you.
