Brand guidelines

How do I manage several brands in one place?

Short answer

Give each brand its own guidelines - its own logos, colours, fonts and rules - and keep them all in one tool, so switching is quick and nothing gets mixed up. Link related brands, such as a parent company and its sub-brands, so people can move between them. In Melon Cut Guidelines every brand has its own page, and Melon Cut Design generates for any of them by @username.

How agencies, groups and companies with sub-brands manage several brands without mixing them up.

Keep every brand separate

The most common multi-brand mistake is mixing them up: the wrong logo, or an old colour, in a client's post. Separate guidelines, each with its own asset libraries, keep the right files in view and the others out of the way.

Brand families

In Melon Cut Guidelines a brand can have a parent. Its page shows "Part of" with the parent company, the parent lists its sub-brands, and related brands are shown too. When a brand changes identity, the new one is set as its successor, the history keeps every identity, and the older page points to the current version.

Plans for many brands

Melon Cut Guidelines is priced per brand: every brand starts on Free, and you upgrade only the ones that need a public page. You can own up to 10 brands on Free. In Melon Cut Design, switch brands by typing a different @username in the Brand chip.
